Set volume attributes

A storage volume is an identifiable unit of data storage. Storage groups are sets of volumes.

Prerequisites

Setting attributes for CKD volumes is not supported. If attempting to set attributes for multiple volumes of type FBA and CKD, a warning is displayed stating that the action is applied only to FBA volumes.

About this task

Setting the volume attribute for a volume restricts how it can be accessed.

To set volume attributes:

Steps

  1. Select the storage system.
  2. Select Storage > Volumes.
  3. Select a volume, click An icon showing three dots arranged in a vertical row, signifying a menu with more options, and click Set Volumes > Attribute.
  4. Set the following attribute:
    • SCSI3 Persistent Reservation—This attribute can be set to enabled or disabled. Maintains any reservations (flags) whether the system goes online or offline.
  5. Do one of the following:
    • Click Run Now to perform the operation now.
    • Expand Run Now and click Add to Job List to add this task to the job list, from which you can schedule or run the task at your convenience. For more information, see Schedule jobs and Preview jobs.
